Starting a paramotor with the Locking Choke

1/10/2014

How to prime and start the engine with no primer bulb and no blow pipe?

Use the locking choke. Lock the choke off and pull then engine over, the fuel will climb the pipe at about 2" per pull, once at the carb, one more pull is required to fill the engine with fuel. Then put on your paramotor, release the carb using hand throttle and it will start on 1st or 2nd pull.

So long as the choke is on the paramotor will not start on the ground. It is just as easy to lock off the choke, wear the paramotor and pull the engine till it wants to start but cannot due to the choke, release the choke and start. It is a very reliable way of starting, with the Horizontal engine layout it is also difficult to flood the engine.

heres a short video to show the carb and where the choke lock is.
