The correct way is to take up the slack (piston reaches top centre where compression resists the pull) then a short firm pull.
This is the Ultimate with direct Belt drive and standard direct pull starter.
Pull starting with the e-prop. this is the pitch adjustable wood hub version, latest e-props are fixed pitch standard 2 part jigsaw type, the e-prop is lighter and requires a slightly faster pull as there is less prop inertia to help start the engine.
